Senegal
West Africa
Senegal is home to both tropical forests in the south and hot, dry deserts in the north. Most people here depend on the land to live and thrive.
But Senegal’s climate is changing fast. Between 2000 and 2020, more than 30,000 hectares of tree cover have been lost, as temperatures rise and the climate crisis deepens. Without trees, soil is drying out and land is becoming desert, putting livelihoods at risk. Across the country, around 1.3 million people are struggling to grow enough food.
That’s why, since 2021, we’ve been working with communities to restore land, protect forests and grow lasting livelihoods – one tree at a time.
